Virginia Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Rebate Programs

Efficiency Rebate Program (See below for solar and wind program):

New applications to the Efficiency Rebate Program closed on November 18. Current requests to reserve rebates have exhausted the first round of funds. A second round of rebate funds is expected to be made available at a later date to be determined.   Click here to sign up to be notified when a second round of energy efficiency rebate funds is available.

Applicants who have already mailed in their redeemed rebate documentation to DMME expected to receive their rebate check within 4-6 weeks. We have received over 2,500 rebate claims since the end of December that are being reviewed and processed by DMME staff as quickly as possible. Some technical software difficulties with our web-based reservation/approval system have now been fixed. Other programmatic circumstances beyond our control have also delayed our original schedule for achieving various steps in the approval process by about 2-3 weeks. We began scanning approved rebate claims into the system for payment in early February. You will receive an email from us after your claim has been scanned that will tell you that your rebate claim has been approved for payment. The status of your application will then change from “payment pending” to “closed”. You should receive your rebate check about 2 weeks after you receive that email. Thank you for your patience.

Check on an existing project or modify it at this link: http://www.virginia.gov/eerebates 

You will not be able to create a new user account or create a new project while the application is closed. Existing users can log in to view or modify existing projects. A second round of rebate funds is expected to be available at a later date to be determined.

Signature Form and Checklist
This is a mandatory Signature Form for cost documentation, acceptance of terms and conditions, and contractor information. You must sign and mail this form to the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy along with another form that contains a unique bar code to facilitate processing of your rebate. For some applicants, the contractor also must sign the form.

Solar and Wind Incentive Program (See above for efficiency program):

Applications to the Solar and Wind Incentive Program closed on November 18. Current requests to reserve rebates have exhausted the first round of funds. A second round of rebate funds might be made available at a later date to be determined.

Because reservation requests far exceeded expectations, our initial estimated 5 to 7 business days to approve requests has been extended. For those who have submitted reservation requests, we thank you for your patience.

The Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy (DMME), Division of Energy will provide up to $15 million in rebates for qualified renewable energy equipment for residential, commercial and nonprofit facilities.

Prior to making a reservation of renewable energy rebate funds, you must carefully read the Virginia Residential and Commercial Solar and Wind Incentive Program guidelines and terms and conditions.  This document provides details about the program and the terms and conditions you that you are agreeing to by submitting a reservation request. You must comply with all terms and conditions to be eligible to receive a rebate:  Terms and Conditions.
