Charlottesville, Va. - On Thursday, March 12th Governor Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency due to the COVID-19 virus. Beginning Monday, March 16th the Virginia Division of Mineral Mining will minimize the number of staff at our Charlottesville office.
All scheduled meetings and classes within the next 30 days will be cancelled (at this time through April 15, 2020). This includes the Surface Foreman Initial Certification class scheduled for March 31-April 3, 2020, in Wytheville. Additional notifications will also be posted on DMME’s Facebook and Twitter pages, as needed.
Due to public health concerns, most of our staff will be working from home and still available via phone and email. There will be a few employees at our office location each day should you need to complete any transactions in person. You can find a complete listing of our employees here. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause and appreciate your understanding while we do our part to help lessen the impact of the COVID-19 virus.
The Division of Mineral Mining (DMM) provides for the safe and environmentally sound production of Virginia's non-fuel minerals. DMM administers both health and safety and surface mining reclamation regulatory programs for all non-coal mineral mining operations. Learn more about our division »
